Matt McGuire – DRUMS, DRUMS and MORE DRUMS!!!
I’ve been following this guy’s work on YouTube and every time he releases something, I always make it a point to check it out. Amazing drummer who has tons of energy and amazing diversity. I’m sure if you throw something at him, he’d be able to play it in a couple of hours.
Here’s a bit about Matt McGuire:
“My name is Matt McGuire.
Born on the 7th of August 1993, raised in Brisbane, Australia.
At the age of 6 years old, I unwrapped my first drum kit at Christmas & started playing along to Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin & Phil Collins.
Little did I know, this is what I was born for.Drumming for me is how I express my emotion & passion. It’s an incredible feeling to play in a way that captures the audience to feel what you feel. Exploring every genre thoroughly & keeping an open mind to new sounds, makes my playing unique with endless creativity.
Connecting to each piece of music i play is critical. It allows the emotion to flow & energy to ignite. Technique & visual performance whilst tastefully complimenting the music is the key to how I play. Performing with explosive energy & power leaves a mental signature to the audience in remembrance of my unique style.
Striving to push the boundaries & limits of drumming, I threw my social life away at a young age to focus on strict practicing & improving to one day become an icon playing with likeminded musicians & producers. Ever since I was pulled up on stage to play along side Ndugu Chancler (Michael Jacksons drummer) in 2004, provided me with ever lasting motivation to chase my dreams.”
